About SITD V - The All Star Edition and the Pukas DARKER

STAB tripled their talent pool in the SITD All-Stars edition, which included three of their past four SITD invitees (Dane Reynolds, Jordy Smith, and Mick Fanning). They decided to halve the test samples, limiting the shaper entrants to just six; Previous winners DHD (Julian), Pyzel (Dane and Jordy), and Channel Islands (Mick), while JS, Pukas, and …Lost scurried in behind in those previous editions.

It was Dane who picked up the Pukas DARKER putting into their final chosen one.

Pukas DARKER by Axel Lorentz

The Pukas Darker by Axel Lorentz is the most performace surfboard at Pukas and it carries the legitimacy of being a design validated by Dane Reynolds in the Stab In The Dark V => the All Stars Edition.

This surfboard sits on top of the "high-performance" hierarchy at Pukas. It's a novel extension of the Pukas Dark (runner up at SITD IV) that Axel Lorentz shaped for the crowd that was intimidated with the narrower outline in the upper nose-side of the board.

Some experienced surfers missed having a wider area up front, where most of their turns connect and some of the airs land.

Don't be surprised to see that the heights and volumes of the Dark and the Darker are almost identical; it's in the distribution of the shape that the concept changes.
